In Catalan, the word joia means both “jewel” and “happiness”, which might give you a clue as to why this apartment is so called. If it doesn’t, then we’ll explain it all to you.

It’s hard to sum up in just a few words why Joia Pla de Palau is such a gem.

 First there’s the unrivalled location, right in the heart of El Born, on the Plaza Pla de Palau, formerly the main square of commercial Barcelona. And there’s the listed building, an eclectic construction built in the historicist style in the mid-19th century using the same stone as the Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar, which lies just a few yards away from the apartment.

Then there’s the uniqueness of the space itself, an area of 200m² all to yourself and superbly distributed. Filled with light thanks to the balconies overlooking the square, the lounge is a diaphanous space that connects to a wonderful open-plan kitchen. The master bedroom, with its double bed bathed in light from the balconies, is linked to a private bathroom, a wall-to-wall wardrobe and a second eat-in kitchen to form a unique space that you can open out to the lounge if you wish. The second bedroom also has a double bed and second private bathroom with its own balconies.

There’s also the original décor and the warmth of the furnishings and fittings. Newly refurbished,the apartment is decked out with luxury materials and furniture, in keeping with the latest architectural trends. The urban art PASTE UP mural, which fuses techniques such as graffiti and wheatpaste, contrasts with the original 19th-century walls and ceilings, while the top-of-the-range kitchen even has a wine cellar. As for the armchairs, sofa and other furniture, you’ll see for yourself as soon as you walk in that nothing has been left to chance.

And finally, there’s the host of modern comforts: air conditioning, underfloor heating, lift, an allocated parking space, and the Lodging team at your service to organise everything you need.

TRAVELING BY CAR?

If you’re planning on driving to Barcelona, rest assured we’ll help you park your car safely. We typically recommend booking your parking spot in advance online via Parclick.

In order to protect air quality and public health, traffic in Barcelona has been restricted from 1 January 2020. Therefore, the most polluting vehicles will not be allowed to circulate on working days, Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Please enter the number plate of your vehicle to find out if it can circulate freely in Barcelonahere.

Vehicles registered outside Spain are not classified according to the environmental criteria of the Spanish Traffic Authority DGT. For this reason, all foreign vehicles must be registered before they can drive in the low emission zones. Applications can be made to include any kind of foreign-registered vehicle in the Register of Authorisations.

IS THIS A WORK TRIP?

Our apartments are equipped with reliable, fiber-optic WI-FI and offer a very comfortable
homeworking set-up – well, as comfortable as working from home can be!

CONDITIONS

Long term bookings have an agency fee of 10% + IVA of the total booking value.

SUPPLIES

The cost of electricity, water, gas and internet is not included in the price and is paid separately at €200 or €350 monthly, depending on the type of apartment.

CLEANING

There is a cost of 220 EUR for the final cleaning of the apartment which is not included in the price. 

CHECK-IN FEES:

-Monday to Saturday:

• €25 for arrivals from 8pm -11pm.

• €50 for arrivals from 11pm.

-Sunday and holidays

• €30 until 11pm.

• €50 from 11pm.

House rules

Welcome to Barcelona! We are delighted to have you with us and hope you have an amazing time at our apartment. To make sure your trip goes smoothly, here are some basic ground rules that we kindly ask you to follow.

Please take the neighbours into consideration

We would appreciate it if you could keep any noise to a minimum after 10pm (so no parties or loud music, please) and to avoid letting doors slam shut or making too much noise when
entering and leaving the building. Your holiday is important to us, but so is the well-being of your neighbours, who still need to go about their everyday lives in peace and tranquility. Any guests who cause a disturbance by hosting a party or such like will be asked to leave the apartment immediately (no refund will be made in such circumstances). Please also be aware that you are not allowed to have more guests staying at the apartment than indicated in your reservation.

Keys and check-out

Please do not leave the keys in the mailbox when vacating the apartment. If you leave earlier than your check-out time, please leave the keys on the table and pull the door shut behind you.
The doors to most of our apartments do not need to be locked when you leave, which makes it very easy for you to lock yourself out. To avoid this, make sure you keep the key with you
whenever you leave the apartment and lock the door yourself.

No smoking!

Smoking is not allowed in the apartment. If you have to smoke, please go outside.

Save energy

We kindly ask you to please turn the lights and air conditioning units OFF whenever you leave the apartment.

Extras

Additional cleaning, bedding, etc. can be arranged for longer stays. Please request this when making your booking.
 

Arrival

Standard check-in is from 3pm to 8pm. Though we do accommodate late arrivals, the following
fees will be charged to cover for our staff having to work late:

-Monday to Saturday:

• €25 for arrivals from 8pm -11pm.

• €50 for arrivals from 11pm.

-Sunday and holidays

• €30 until 11pm.

• €50 from 11pm.

These fees must be paid in cash to the Lodging Barcelona staff member during check-in.

Departure
Check-out time is 11am. If there are no other bookings on the day you depart, you can arrange to leave your luggage in the apartment until you leave Barcelona or arrange a later check-out time.

Lost keys

A fee of €50 will be charged for the replacement of lost keys.

One last request

On your last day, please wash the dishes and take out the garbage. Thank you!
